Funk introduces Houdini. Derived from AK1, Arthur Khoubesserian’s statement arm, Houdini is a decoupler with high dynamic stability.
Cross-referencing on Linns, Projects, Reed, Rega P1- P10, Schroeder, SL1200s, SME 30, Thorens, VPI - the results are consistent. Houdini brings the master tape closer, hence why we call it “the next step in analogue”.
How it Works
Three years of development, and unique physics analysis and modelling gave us one conclusion.
The best practice of firmly bolting cartridge-to-arm is completely wrong!
3 bolts are even worse. With arm and cartridge acting as one unit, each time you change the arm, the sound changes.
If we could remove the arm’s effects and support the cartridge correctly, that would leave only the true sound of the cartridge.
Houdini fixes this problem, delivering significant improvements in sound quality on both high and low end equipment. It comprises a complex suspension plus torsion tether, forming a virtual anchor to create an “island of stability”, all in a tiny volume just 6mm deep, providing unparalleled isolation.
For maximum resolution, controlling stability and preventing wobble is paramount. Houdini provides an enhanced sense of pace and greater dynamic range, allowing for higher volume settings. Harshness and brashness is removed with no penalty. The benefits can’t be recreated by any other means - the improvement is at a fundamental level.
The Funk Houdini is available in two different variants, depending on your existing turntable set up.
