Sondek LP12, R200 tonearm, Goldring 1006
Serial No. 030905 (1979 - 1981)
This early model LP12 Sondek is in excellent condition and plays beautifully. The timber plinth is walnut.
A variety of upgrades have been made to its original version.
At some time previously the original lid has been replaced with a smoked version with spring hinges. The lid is in very good condition but there are some superficial surface scuff marks.
The motor control has been upgraded to the electronic Valhalla motor control board, and an Origin Live upgrade belt installed.
Like most Rega R200 tonearms the anti-skating toothed belt had disintegrated and has been replaced so the anti-skating function now operates. The tonearm has also been rewired internally with Cardas Litz wires and the external cables and RCA plugs replaced with heavy duty ones.
The suspension springs and rubbers have been replaced.
The Goldring 1006 cartridge has a near new elliptical stylus, and is mounted in a headshell using the Origin Live Cartridge Enabler. The stylus can be upgraded later to the 1012, 1022, or 1042 nude line contact types.
An Origin Live Gasket Set for LP12 has been installed.
An Origin Live Upgrade Platter Mat has replaced the original felt mat.
The base board has been replaced by an acrylic board which improves the rigidity of the deck's frame. Three Vibrapods provide vibration absorption to the whole deck.
The total value of these upgrades is about $830, not including labour, which typically is about $300 to rebuild an LP12.
The current basic model of the Linn LP12 is the Majik model, which retails for $7490.
Demonstrations are available in our Esk loungeroom. Delivery in the Brisbane metro area is included.
