The OL1 arm in basic form is a good budget arm. In upgraded form it is amazing - there are other arms which are close to the performance of this arm but they cost 4 times as much. The OL1 arm is manufactured for us by Rega Research Ltd and we offer it with 4 stages of upgrade.

The Origin Live OL1 tonearm is an OEM arm manufactured by Rega. It is available in both standard form or with various modifications which upgrade it's performance enormously.

In The Beginning...
In 1983, after using the Rega designed Japanese built R200 tonearm for 10 years, Rega decided to design and build their first tonearm in the UK, the RB300 (Rega Britain). The high pressure die-cast silicon alloy tube alone took two years to develop with the UK's largest die casting company. The work and our casting subsequently won us both an "international casting award" from America for what is still considered today to be a technically impossible casting.
