Armageddon turntable power supply

The Armageddon is a turntable power supply for the Linn Sondek LP12. It is built around a large 430VA toroidal transformer. Simplicity is the key to its uniquely musical sound.

Housed in a single, Hi-Cap style, extruded aluminium case, it contains a simple phase shift network. It does not use mains filters as we have found these to be sonically detrimental. (We came across one turntable supply that severely degraded the performance of several systems immediately it was plugged into the mains supply -- without being switched on or connected to anything!)

The Armageddon drives the turntable at 33rpm (50Hz) only, with great smoothness and a dramatic reduction in the motor noise and vibration which cause irretrievable loss of information at the stylus.

An Armageddon is Naim’s dedicated power supply for use with an LP12 turntable.  If offers a significant improvement in sound quality compared to the standard LP12 power supply.  Note that an Armageddon is single speed and therefore cannot be used to play 45s without use of the LP12 adapter ring.  The  Armageddon is an alternative to Linn’s high specification power supply the Lingo.

Naim Armageddon: High-current AC power supply (470VA) for the Linn LP-12 turntable. Designed for use with Basik (not Valhalla'd model), it can be fitted to the more expensive turntable if the motor is changed to a 60Hz synchronous motor, available from Linn as the Basik motor kit ($60).
