The Sorbogel record mat reduces resonance and vibration of the record.  Acoustic feedback and stylus contact can actually introduce a microscopic vibration to the played disc.  It is a solid, rubber-like mat with properties similar to flesh.  This characteristic dampens  vibrations, thus reducing unwanted coloration to the reproduced sound.

HOW TO KNOW IF YOU WILL BENEFIT FROM IT:

Recommended for most metal or glass platter turntables.  There is less benefit to Acrylic, or heavy composite platter turntables.  Tap on your platter.  Any ring-like sound means it can help.  If it sounds like concrete, you may not get dramatic improvment.
